TNR Appointments

The TNR procedure costs are $80 for males and $90 for females. OJK will provide humane traps as well as transportation to veterinarian for cats’ spay or neuter. The procedure costs include spay/neuter, rabies vaccine, pain medication, ear-tip or tattoo, and flea preventative.
Please email Melinda Maiden at  [email protected]
to setup a TNR appointment and obtain a trap.

There is a typically six to eight week lag time in getting appointments. If your cat(s) can be picked up and put in a carrier, or you are able to trap them yourself, appointments can be made sooner.

You will be shown how to properly setup the trap and provided with canned food to use as bait.

Traps cannot be left unattended.

All traps must be covered with a sheet or towel once a cat has been trapped.

Trapping Tips

  • Begin feeding the cats, if you’re not already, as far in advanced of the TNR appointment as possible.
  • Get cats accustomed to seeing the trap by putting the trap near the area they feed or hang out. Just be sure if it’s not trapping day the trap is either closed or open but NOT set to trigger to close.
  • Skip one feeding prior to the first trapping attempt. This makes the cats more likely to show up for the next feeding time.
  • Try various food that may be more tempting than their regular food: canned tuna, canned sardines, various wet food, etc.
